Following a huge entry of many varying types of design, the Eurosurf committee has awarded the prize for the design of the official contest poster to Marie-Therese Shortt who is based in Norway but who is of Irish heritage.
Speaking about the winning design, contest director Dara O’Malley-Daly “We were overwhelmed with the quality of entries we got for the competition and the talented designers and photographers who are out there. In the end there could only be one winner and Marie Therese’s entry really stood out”.

On the phone from her workplace in Norway, an excited Marie Therese told us “I am so delighted to have won the poster competition and having the chance to see my design being used for a sport I love in a country I love even more :) ” she continued “My design is inspired by the feeling I get when surfing in Ireland and Bundoran – when perfect swells build up incredible waves, and being surrounded by the magic scenery of Bundoran – the green hills, the fresh water splashing against the cliffs, and the constantly changing weather. When it rains in Ireland, it rains shamrocks :)

Eurosurf Press Officer Shane Smyth commented “we are delighted with Marie Therese’s design. We’re now starting the work of getting the poster printed with a view to having them available by this weekend both in Bundoran and across the country. So happy are we with the design that we have also decided to use it as the image that will grace the front of the souvenir programme as well”
