Eurosurf Bundoran and Discoverbundoran.com have launched a series of “Nationality Welcome Videos” ahead of the European Surfing Championships which will be held in the popular seaside resort from September 23rd until October 2nd.
The videos will feature citizens of the competing Eurosurf nations who are already living in or visiting Bundoran talking about why they are in Bundoran, what they like about the town so much and most importantly conveying their best wishes to their national team.
The videos arising from a concept from Bundoran’s Tourism Officer Tracy Ferguson are produced by Eurosurf Press Officer Shane Smyth and filmed and edited by Conor Flannery who also produced the recent 60 second Eurosurf Teaser trailer which can be viewed online on www.eurosurfbundoran.com and was also shown on the big screens during the acts at the main stage of the Sea Sessions Surf and Music Festival.
The first of the “Welcome videos” was released on Wednesday 13th July featuring Jose Manuel Blanco Chao from Spain, a student of the Donegal Language School in Bundoran. More students from the Donegal Language School will feature in the coming weeks as well as Pierre Vandermuelen from Belgium who has now lived in Bundoran for over 2 years having come to the town to learn to surf.
Tourism Officer for Bundoran Town Council Tracy Ferguson commented “As Bundoran prepares to welcome hundreds of European surfers to the town to compete for the title of European Surfing Champions 2011, we thought it was important that competitors and spectators got a flavour of what to expect when they come to town and I believe these video “postcards” will give them an idea of what to expect both from the town and the surf when they get here”.
Eurosurf Bundoran Press Officer Shane Smyth added “We are delighted to collaborate with Discover Bundoran on this project – not only is Eurosurf an important event in the Irish surfing calendar for 2011 but it’s also a huge tourism boost for the town at the end of the traditional holiday season. By producing these videos we can not only show what the surfing conditions are like, but we also have an opportunity to showcase the wonderful scenery that Bundoran and its surrounds have to offer”
The videos will be released simultaneously every Wednesday until the contest begins in September through the Facebook sites of Eurosurf and Discover Bundoran and also through their respective websites www.eurosurfbundoran.com and www.discoverbundoran.com
